World Record Significance

Still, unless you are intimately familiar with subzero overclocking like I am, or you just get excited by new records like I do, you may be asking what a CPU Frequency record matters to Joe Sixpack? Don’t let anyone – or any marketing – fool you. This record isn’t going to change the way you compute daily, it isn’t going to mean you hit 6GHz on air, and it isn’t confirmation of what other benchmark performance we should expect to see from Bulldozer. We’ll be bringing you the benchmark performance, air cooling OC results, as well as more subzero results soon, but you’ll have to stay tuned until we can bring you all of those tests in the not too distant future. All that said, results of “well beyond 5GHz” on air were claimed on cooling solutions priced below the $100 mark!

Why does this chip, an 8150, which is supposed to have 8 cores only have 2?
Anyway, here's the video the released on YouTube:

Seems likely running all 8 cores at that speed would not be functional, would quadruple the heat and timing issues...

Maybe the guiness record is poorly worded as "dual core" instead of "full use of multiple cores" or something. There is always a lot of jiggery pokery with these things

It's normal for a suicide run to disable most of the cores (or in this case modules)

Still waiting to see real life results. Bulldozer is all that I have heard about for what seems like forever. The bulldozers were supposed to release on Sept 19th, but I'm reading online this week that the desktop rollout has been pushed back by at least 1 more month.

I'm guessing the Core i7-2700K will arrive around the same time and spoil the AMD party...even with just 4 cores.

AMD never said Sept 19, that's just a rumor. The only official comment from AMD was for a Q2 2011 release. Then there was this

Yeah, regardless of who said what, it's into the 4th quarter of 2011 and we still don't have chips out there.
