USB Mouse Won't click acts randomly

I recently upgraded from Windows Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. Everything was fine and I liked it. Then it stopped registering the clicks from my mouse. I rebooted and it was back to normal. After a while it stopped again and I've been fighting with it ever since. It works about 1 out of every 15 reboots. I've tried rebooting with the dvd for windows repair, nothing. I removed wireless USB card and switched to ethernet connection, worked for a minute until next reboot. I've reinstalled windows (haven't formatted yet) to no avail.

I've tried and tried to contact windows for support, but can't find a phone number. When I try to go through the steps on their site, it says that my product ID isn't good for this country, yet I bought it at Best Buy here in Louisiana, and they want to charge me $50 to talk to me!! I'm fit to be tied!!

The one thing different that I did was, when I initially upgraded, I disconnected my backup drive since I didn't have anywhere else to back it up. I re-connected it once everything was reinstalled. For the life of me I can't seem to figure this out. If I have to format everything I will. I about to that point right now.

    Please help me!

    t,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

One of the possible sources of your problem are some very well known anti-virus products. What anti-virus are you using?

Another possible source is the software which you have installed.

    Another possible source is malware.

Download, install and run MalwareBytes. Use the link in my sig. this will send you to MalwareBytes.org. For the actual download, they will send you to another location. This is because MalwareBytes is extremely effective and the malware writers try to defeat malware bytes.

After you have download malwarebytes, you will have a file called mbam setup if i recall correctly, no matter what it is called, rename it something ridiculous and then run it. This easy trick will get around most of the malware's attempts to block MalwareBytes.

Imperative is that you run the FULL SCAN. There is no need to buy MalwareBytes or agree to any of their other bright ideas.

That can take several hours, dpending upon how much you've got on your disks.

When MalwareBytes finished, get back to us.

Running MalwareBytes is not an option. We must be able to rule out viruses beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Norton 360 (latest version & up to date) is all I have, but I will try the Malware deal as soon as I get home. Thank you.

Ok, I made it worse. I was going to put the malware program on my pc at home but It was hung up, so I decided to do a clean install of Vista, then redo the upgrade to Windows 7. I put the Vista installation CD in and when it got to select where to install, I decided to format the drive, to be sure that everything was gone for a fresh start.

Well, now I can't find the drivers to load on the motherboard cd and I don't have a floppy.

All I have is the CD-ROM, a WD 1TB Caviar Black, and GIGABYTE MA785GM-US2H (rev 1.0).

    How can I fix this?

Don't worry. Just continue on. Normally, even with vista, basic drivers ar e included so that the system is at least functional.

That's the thing, it keeps saying Window is unable to find a system that meets the installation criteria.

You could try following the tutorial on doing a clean install with the upgrade version.
