Hmm, then it is not the problem I had suspected.
Explanation: on some HP systems, the SD card reader power is shut off when you do a "safely remove" for the SD card. You must use an "eject" instead. A reboot will usually fix the problem.
But when your green light is on, that cannot be the problem. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway - 2 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista and Windows7, sometimes Ubuntu and Fedora CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to 2.5GHz Quad Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse terrible devices, who wants them Hard Drives 5x HDD, 2x SSD, 6x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

As in another thread, I'll tell you what worked for me ...
I tried two different memory card readers on my desktop and both of them would fail from time to time -- using the same cards every time. Given that they would sometimes work OK, that pretty much ruled out drivers.
So, I went out and bought a cheap little memory card reader that connects using a short USB cable -- and it works ALL THE TIME. Yeah, it's a pain to have to carry it around with a laptop, but if it works, it's worth it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Win7 Pro 32-bit, Win7 Home 32-bit CPU AMD 4400/Intel 915 Motherboard ASUS/Intel Memory 2GB DDR 400 Graphics Card ATI X1600/Builtin Intel 915 Sound Card Bluegear B-Enspirer/Builtin sound Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 24" widescreen Screen Resolution 1920x1200/1024 x 768 |

Have you tried inserting another SD card you have and have previously used. Does it show its content? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ASUS N61JV OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64, Ubuntu CPU i3-370 M, 2,40 GHz Motherboard ASUS Memory 4 Gb Graphics Card nVidia GeForce 325M Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio |

If all else fails, try formatting it in a camera or some other device. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number eMachines ET1831-7 OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz Motherboard EMCP73VT-PM Memory 4096M Graphics Card nVidia 8400GS Sound Card built-in Realtek Monitor(s) Displays Acer 20" Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Hard Drives Seagate ST3750528AS ATA 500G Other Info Dual-boot with Linux. |
