Did a search and was not clear and where to post this so I will try this thread for now, if not appropriate please switch the thread for me.
Anyway, I have a fairly new Samsung Syncmaster 2494 monitor running with Windows 7 Pro 64. Not sure what has happened but recently the monitor has started to sleep I guess after about 30-45 seconds unless there is some sort of input device being used or if I have a movie playing. Let me explain that - if I am using MPC or KMP or VLC then the monitor does not sleep, go dark, whatever. If however I am viewing a trailer or watching something on Hulu then the monitor goes to sleep after the 30 or 45 seconds. I have a dual boot setup with Windows 7 Pro 32 and this is not the case. Also I should mention that if I switch over to the admin account or another account I have created here on the 64 bit the monitor only sleeps according to the settings in Power Options.
I have went through the monitor menu time and time again and cannot find a setting. I did that as a last resort. I know it is something with my current Win 7 Pro 64 setup when using my user account as the monitor only sleeps so quickly on this account.
I realize this may be confusing but I have no other way to explain. I have tried changing the Power Option settings time and time again and then restarting. I am a few months away from doing a re-install anyway but this is very annoying when doing homework or research for homework online.
Does anyone have any suggestions, something I may have missed or have failed to think of?
