Windows 7 - Can not create more than 4 partition

Can not create more than 4 partition

while i am formating my laptop i cant create more than 4 primary partiotion
what is the reason behind that error .

If you need more than 4 partitions you have to create everything past #3 as logical partition in an extended partition.

This is not a error.

limit of 4 PRIMARY partition (one with you os must be "active").
Then you must create logical partition within an extended one.

After doing all that on a 150 gig hard drive each partition would be very small. If it was my computer I would install a bigger hard drive if one will fit in there. You could also get a external hard drive of size and partition it.

Have read that some folks have used Disk Utility to FORCE the creation of a fifth (and more) partitions -- but doing so also forces the conversion of the partitions into Dynamic Disks -- something you do NOT want to do.

For a 150 GB hard disk, two partitions are ideal. First one for OS and second one for data.

You shouldn't have any reason for needing that many partitions on a single disk. Personally, I never go above two.
