Hi and welcome to sevenforums gopher1,
so there is nothing showing in "computer"
and nothing showing as installing drivers when first plugged in?
try this....click start button, Right click on Computer and select Manage. On the following screen, click on Disk Management. In the tool bar, click on Action and then Rescan Disks.

Start with the basic hookup, I'm assuming it hooks up via USB, try switching the USB cord to one you know works & see what happens. Or switch it to another USB port on your PC and see what happens. I have a USB port on mine that "has problems".
If that's not the problem, I found this link, there are several suggestions on this thread you might want to try: Iomega External Harddrive not found - Hard-Disks - Storage | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Hell oh Well OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93GHz Memory Not much with my ADHD Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 Monitor(s) Displays I have one...It's bright. A 19 inch CRT actually. Keyboard It's 10 years old and amazingly still works Mouse Same deal with the mouse, 10 yrs old, if it ain't broke... Case Don't get on my case...man :D Cooling I have an Air Conditioner & Diet Pepsi Hard Drives 250 GB Main Drive, 2 - 1 TB Externals, various FD's. |

Sometimes the USB cable connecting the HDD to the computer gets damaged with excessive usage. It happened to me before.
Try with another USB cable. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite P775-S7232 OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 CPU i5-2410M 2.3GHz (2.9GHz Turbo-Boost) Sandy Bridge 32nm Motherboard Toshiba PHRAA ver. rod, i have a 1T iomega also and it didnt have any driver software with it , it was simply plug in and play .im not sure why its not showing but i dont think its driver related.
in fact upon checking i see it has a microsoft driver, which i assume it installed the first time the iomega was plugged in. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett packard/p6512uk OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7600 CPU IIx4 amd athelon 635 processor Motherboard FOXCONN 2AA9 Memory 2x2gb Graphics Card ati radeon HD 5450 Sound Card (1) Realtek High Definition Audio (2) AMD High Definition Monitor(s) Displays samsung lcd tv 32" Screen Resolution 1360x 768 Keyboard wireless hp Mouse wireless Hp,optical PSU ?
