I tried it once with just those 2.

Now I'm going to try with the entire folder full of what was extracted from INDOTH-12766700-XP.EXE.

It gives me the list I posted before, which contains a mix of drivers labeled "Mobile" or "Desktop." Should I choose ALL of these? Even the Desktop ones?

It also gives a warning underneath to not select different OS versions, though I can't tell anything of which would be what.

Okay, finally got back to the option to load PnP or not, which now I know not to!
Mobile vs Desktop is obvious, but any idea which ones of those I should choose? Or multiples?

May be worth downloading the up to date drivers from Intel:

I hope you starting afresh, & not using the old one.

It is installed once more, and fully booted and logged on, fully functional! Woot!

1 problem still, though I know I still need to install the rest of the drivers. The screen is miniaturized in the center of the monitor. Should the video driver solve this?

    Bad news:
    • Keyboard doesn't work.
    • Once you've clicked something, it remains highlighted & you have to forcibly [Select All, Invert Selection]
    • Who knows what else isn't working... Did I mention it was a Dell OEM? That's probably what screwed it up ultimately... I finally did just throw all the drivers, even the server workstation ones, at it to see what stuck, and that's when it installed-- not that I'd say it necessarily works right now.

    Good news:
I can NOW purchase a full retail or unbranded OEM of XP to experiment further with, because...!

    Well, in summary:
So this friend is an excellent networker, and is trying to start a company of a bunch of us from my college, where each one of us specializes in our particular art. I told him that I don't feel comfortable doing freelance animation yet, but I could contribute tech. I looked at his laptop first, 1 as thanks for also trying to find me a job waitressing or something, and also to prove myself to him. It was 3 years out of date on updates, riddled with viruses, and struggling to use Vista.

Now he has already gotten me another gig fixing a random friend of his' Dell Inspiron laptop, for $100, and it's running XP already! Perfect justification to invest a tiny portion in this work towards a proper, universally un-branded, XP installation disc.

And he can play with 7 for the weekend.
Any further suggestions? Theog, thank you so much. I can't rep you just yet but you've been most helpful to me. SeaVixen & karlsnooks too.
I'm going to mark this as solved, with the conclusion of "Don't try it this way at home!" Any other problems I have with other discs I'll start a new thread.
