Since such things can alway be reinstalled, until this problem source is located, please uninstall:
    all apple software,
    all bonjour software
    all torrent software
    all itunes software
    all quicktime software
all browsers except for the one you use.

    Reboot your computer.

    Problem gone?

Okay I will give that a shot, ignore what this response was before I typed that before I saw your updated comment. Hadn't done a refresh recently.

OK. Did we do a System File Checker?

If not, please do that now and lets pray that catches the problem.

Please, please read this tutorial rather than just plunge ahead.

I like to be able to know precisely what has been done.

If you don't get a positive response from SFC then reboot and run again.

If you get a positive response, then reboot.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Firefox still up to it's same old tricks. Hogging the whole CPU, as well as all the other programs doing it randomly as well.

No problem! A simple copy paste in google led me right to your sevenforums page link, first result :) The scan is currently running in the elevated command.

There are a couple of us having problems with firefox hogging things and temporarily hanging. Latest FF version is buggy.

I even tried Chrome to get around the problem but chrome doesn't have many of the features that ff has. IE likes to drown my in ads. With FF I can easily block the ads and using noscript block many of the third-party sites and cookies.

Sure hope firefox fixes this problem soon.

So latest update. The scan has said "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations". I'm going to use option 3 TIP box and see how that goes.
