Windows 7 does not see my DVD ROM

Help!

My Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit does not see my D: drive --my DVD ROM.

I have already tried all of the restore points and none of them fixed the problem. I even tried to go into REEDIT to delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, but they do not exist either. What the heck am I suppose to do now? I can'r even reformat my hard drive without the stupid DVD Rom?

Would someone please, please for God sake help me, before I go absolutely friggin crazy. Thank you.

Jallard

How about some history to help us??

Is this a new problem, in that, Windows 7 used to see your DVD drive but does not anymore? IF so, what has changed on your PC since Windows 7 last "saw it"?

Is this a new drive? If so, does it show up in the BIOS?

If a new drive, did you switch over from an IDE drive to a SATA drive? If so, is the new drive's SATA mode IDE or AHCI?

No

No, it isn't a new drive. And, I have already reformated the hard drive, in the last two hours or so, and reinstalled Windows 7 32bit. Now I am just putting everything back, thanks or no thanks to Windows and Microsoft. However, I do appreciate your response. Thank you.

Windows 7 aka Vista

Yes, so far things are working normally --as normal as you would expect for Microsoft Windows 7. Only time will tell when drivers start to disappear again, for no damn reason other than its Windows!?!

If this happens again, give us a chance to help you and save you from doing another reinstall. I have a feeling the problem was a very simple one - it is more often than you think
