Wierd problem with my USB ports. Cant get any of them to work!

HP Pavilion Desktop

After last Sunday neither my keyboard or mouse have been working.
Actually, none of my USB Devices work in my ports..
I have now done some testing, and this is what I have found out:

*None of my USB ports work.
*PS/2 does.
*If I Uninstall the drivers for the Universal Serial Bus Controllers the ports work until
they reinstall.
*After the drivers (?) for the Bus Controller are reinstalled automaticly the driver
installer says that my devices are unplugged.

Also for some reason my computer cant find any internet. "No internet access"
It should work, it has been for three years now.

I have been fiddling with the Device Manager and found out that if i right click and select "Uninstall" to the two "USB Root Hub"'s that show up, and to Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller and the Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller, and after clicking the "Scan For Hardware Changes" my keyboard and mouse lights up, and work!

Sadly the Drivers or whatever it is in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers tab reinstall automaticly.

I (Think? ) that i have done everything i am capeble to think of. And need help!

I am quite certain that this is not the drivers, since i have been (Atlest tried!) installing the updates for them after my problem occured.

I would be extremely happy if anyone out there can reply with a possible solution to my Internet Problem, and USB problem!

(This post will probably have terrible writing, since this is not my native languange, SORRY! )

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

You may have a problem with your chipset drivers so you may want to download and install the latest ones from HP Support.

HP Support & Drivers | United Kingdom

You may need to change the region to Norway.

There's nothing wrong with your English by the way, I understood it perfectly.

Vixen can handle this but I just wanted to pop in and say your English is near perfect. I've seen Americans with significantly less understanding of their own language. Kudos to you.

Thanks for an idea and compliments!
They had one driver for Vista, (Not my OS) and that was: 2008-12-15 , Versjon:N/A
System Recovery Kit for Pavilion or Presario Notebook
I did not install it , since it was not my OS.
But if anyone have any other ideas i will try to confirm them, either if they work or not..! (?)

You're very welcome.

You could try installing the Vista drivers as often they are the same or very similar to Windows 7 drivers.

Just create a system restore point first so that if the Vista drivers don't work you can use system restore to get your computer back to as it was before you installed them.

I made a System Restore Point, and was about to download the System Recovery Kit driver, but found out that it costed me 327.12 NOK, 35.9832 GBP or 56.26464 USD..
I really don't want to pay that fee. At least not since I don't even know if this will work.
But keep the ideas coming!

I think we're at a stage now that your computer may be infected with a virus.

Try a full scan in safe mode (press F8 at startup then select safe mode) with Malwarebytes.

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a free download that removes viruses and malware from your computer

(Sorry for late answer!)

I did a full scan, and there turned up to be a lot of infected files. I deleted all of them. After this i tried to reconnect my keyboard, but the scan made no difference from last time i tried to connect it. Conclusion: That did not work. :C
So i still need help

I know you're not keen on spending more money, but it seems you're going to need those system recovery discs.

Other than that, I'm out of ideas on this one except for the possibility that there may be a physical problem with your USB ports.

There comes a point where you should forget about fixing it and just reinstall Windows.
Backup your data first, then reinstall Windows.

It the old days, PCs came with a Windows recovery CD, and a second CD with drivers.
These days that stuff is likely found on your disk drive in a separate, dedicated partition.

Either way, a reinstall will assure you a clean start. It's a pain, but it works.
