Need system specs first. You can add them in at the bottom left corner of your post where is says "My System Specs". You can also fill them out in "User CP" at the top of the screen near "New Post" and "Tutorials".

When you say you format the HD, you mean you backed up your info, wiped it clean and did a fresh install?

Sounds like a possible hard drive failure.

Ok I need some information:

Neither hard drive is new, correct?
Have you tried every Sata port for your HDD?
Your Bios doesn't recognize any hard drive whatsoever or just the one you want to boot from?
What is the maker and which HDD's do you have (maybe add that to your specs as well)?
Does your bios recognize your CD/DVD drive in a Sata port that didn't recognize your HDD?
In your Bios, is your Sata Controller set to AHCI?

Sata or Pata?

If you boot from a Sata drive, the port you connect it to needs to be AHCI.
