    8GB Ram found - 3.25gb usable ?

    Hey,

Title says it all, I'm using 32 bit windows 7 and i know there have been problems but i just want conformation.

Motherboard, ram and cpu are all new, no hardware faults or bent pins etc...

Is there any way to unlock the full 8gb of ram ? or will i need windows 64 bit for this to happen?

    Thanks in advance =D

Okay thankyou, and how do I update from 32 bit to 64 ? just put the cd in on load up or.. ?

One last question, it should automatically allow me to use 8gb right, no need to do anything else ?

That will work, but understand it is an OEM version and is restricted to the hardware on which it is first installed and has no support from Microsoft.

You already have a valid license for Windows 7, so there's no need to buy anything new. You just need to get the media. Borrow it from a friend, or do some Google searching. There are valid, Microsoft-owned sites, that you download the .iso image from. I'd post a link, but the mods do delete those comments.

The sad part is that you will probably not notice a big difference in terms of performance - unless you do CAD or some other high end application.

Hmm... my Sony Vaio came with 8GB and spam emails seem to come in a lot faster now.
