HP dv67000 HDD & CD Drive Detection Problem

Hey guys i got a laptop that's called a hp pavilion entertainment PC (dv67000) and it doesn't detect the hard drive nor the CD drive. I disconnected and reconnected them and reset BIOS to load default settings. And still nothing. Anyone have any ideas to what can be done, I really don't have the money to buy new parts at the moment. Thank you.

Hello Antonius. Welcome to the Forum.

When you are in the BIOS, is the hard drive and/or CD drive recognized there?
Try removing the battery and running it on the power supply only.
Did this unit suffer a fall or other "event"?
Are you comfortable with taking the unit apart? If so, you could remove and replace the drives. Check the contacts and blow out the dust, reconnect and try again. If you are uncomfortable bring it to a shop.

Unfortunately if the drives are not recognized in the BIOS and are connected properly then that strongly indicates a motherboard failure - the SATA controller chip most likely - and the cost of replacement approaches half the cost of a new laptop.

All that has been done already. Hmm I was afraid it might be a motherboard or SATA controller problem. Thanks for the replay.
