Windows 7 - Important Notice - ASUS Crosshair V Formula/Thunderbolt AM3+ FX CPU

Warning, This notification is only for AMD AM3+ FX Bulldozer CPU users and ASUS Crosshair V Formular/Thunderbolt End-Users only if you DO NOT have a FX Bulldozer CPU this this does not apply. You will need to use your old AM3 CPU to update the BIOS before installing the FX AM3+ CPU.

This notification applies to both versions of ASUS Crosshair Formular and thunderbolt,

If you are already an AMD user and you already own an AMD AM3+ CPU then you need to update the BIOS for the ASUS Crosshair V Formula/Thunderbold first with your old CPU before installing your new AMD AM3+ FX 6 Core or 8 Core CPU, if you do not update your BIOS the CPU will not be recognised and will fail to POST. ASUS has released a new Crosshair V Formula/thunderbolt BIOS update 0813 on the 07/10/2011 with a new CPU support list. Please select from the link below your OS and then go to BIOS and download BIOS 0813

If you have moved from Intel to AMD, then depending on the supplier where you purchased the motherboard and CPU from they can either do this for you by sending the motherboard back to them and all you pay is shipping costs. Again this depends on the supplier.

Another alternative is to find somebody who is willing to update the BIOS by using an AMD AM3 CPU and booting the system so the BIOS can be updated and then install the new CPU and it should boot and post. I'm having mine done today and it's only going to cost £20.00 which is cheep enough.

Could you pin this so other people will know what is causing the boot problem with the AMD FX 6100 and 8100 CPU.
