Can I plug-in SATA cable when computer is running?
I am not sure:
Can I plug-in (and -out) a SATA cable (to hard disc) from (ASUS) motherboard slot when computer is running?
Or will this cause a damage to hardware?

If your sata controllers are in AHCI mode. It's called 'hot plugging'. Although I only do it if necessary.
Definitely not recommended. But I would only do it if I was trying to install an OS on the HD. I have done it a couple times using an ASUS board and they handle it pretty well. Other boards used to have a Biostar tried fried the plug.
ive only ever plugged drives in not unplugged them when its on, doesnt work on all motherboards though. ASUS's seem to, but my AMD platform didnt like it
