After letting a friend "download" and burn some image files, my laptop has gone astray. I realize i should have made a user account for him but i wasnt thinking ahead. Now programs like kaspersky and and image burning programs wont detect the cd rom, any suggestion?
Windows shows the cd rom just fine, my laptop manufacture programs that came with the laptop out of the box work, and the cd rom does show up in the device manager. Also it seems like my laptop sure does alot of interneting on its own esspecially when i go online, something to do with PID 4 ran by system. I have ran scans with kaspersky, everything comes up clean. i have done a system restore (which took forever to do) still the problem persist.
Im am wondering if a virus got on and deployed certain shell extensions to reconfigure personal preferences and then delete itself using legit programs the way they are intended, but also in such as way to be able to call back to my laptop, and see if the changes it made are still effective.
Is there an option/way to hide the cd rom in windows 7 from other programs? Sure does seem like there is alot of files and folders hidden on windows 7 and alot of folders locked out to users.
