i5 vs i7

Is there any noticable difference in performance/power consumption between the i5 and i7? I wish to get a new processor for our desktop, and want to know which is better.

Some things to note is
-It will be only on Windows 7 (if there are any compatability issues)
-Will be playing some fairly new games like ACB/AC2/Lord of the Rings Conquest
-Will use CS5.5 like Photoshop and Dreamweaver

The i7 is stronger than the i5. The i7 has hyperthreading, while the I5 does not.

The real question is whether you have an additional $100 or not. The i7 is stronger and faster, but may not be worth $100 extra. Both are fast processors and I've got friends who own both and they love them both.
