Help me find some low priced, android based, tablets. I'm trying to find three(so far)tablets for gifts. I'm having a hard time because I'm not really into tablets. So here is what I am seeking.
1. Smaller screen. The 7 inch is fine but bigger is cool for a great deal.
2. Android based.
3. Wifi is all I am seeking but I would like one model to have 3g or some option of adding it.
4. Under $150. I came across some models I've never heard of that were under $90 but I was unable to find any reviews on them.
Keep in mind, these are mostly gifts for people that have laptops and net-books. So mainly they are just for casual use, a better medium to run applications, and just something to do on the run. The one 3g model I need would be for my mom and she is somewhat technology challenged.
Any help is appreciated.

There is a lot of junk on the market - especially in the low price range. For that amount of money, you will have to look for one of the older ones with resistant screens. Among those, this is a pretty decent one: http://vimeo.com/19574982 http://www.amazon.com/Coby-MID7015-A.../dp/B0047Q9GT4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBMtSWqya24
If you want to spend a bit more money, you could look at e.g. an Archos. They have touchscreens and are pretty decent. Here is an example but there are more models: Newegg.com - Archos - 70 Internet Tablet - 8GB Running Google ANDROID + Wi-Fi (501582) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway - 2 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista and Windows7, sometimes Ubuntu and Fedora CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to 2.5GHz Quad Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse terrible devices, who wants them Hard Drives 5x HDD, 2x SSD, 6x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

The Kindle Fire may be just what you're looking for. It isn't available until Nov 15th but you could pre-order it now. At $199 it's more than your $150 budget but I doubt you'll find a less expensive tablet that can compete with it. Should be the hot item for xmas this year. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 8100 Desktop, Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop OS Win 7 Home Premium (64-bit), Win 7 Pro (32-bit) CPU 2.8Ghz Core i7 860, 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo Motherboard Dell, Dell Memory 8G, 3G Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770, Mobile Intel 965 Sound Card ATI High Definition Audio (Built-in to mobo) Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2409W 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard IBM Model M - used continuously since 1986 Mouse Microsoft Hard Drives 1T OS; 1.5T Data on Desktop, 320G for laptop Internet Speed 1.5M down 1.2M up :-( Other Info Also have an Acer Aspire netbook, a home-built AMD Dual core (Minecraft server) and home-built Pent 4 all running Win 7. Also have various machines running XP, Win Server 2K, Win Server 2003, Linux and DOS. I think I have a problem... |
