Your best bet for advice is to join the OCZ forum and search/post there in the Plus section with your mobo/system specs (a requirement).

They can tell you if there are any particular issues with setup or usage, which depend on model/mobo/BIOS/OS.

If it is this OCZ model, you may run into problems - at least it seems from what I read in the user reviews. There must be a reason why it is so cheap. I own 3 other Vertex2 models and have no problems - except with the very first one 3 years ago which they exchanged.

Thanks everyone - I still think the bad reviews are from people who didn't have the proper firmware. The current version was actually just released a couple weeks ago so my timing seems pretty good.

On top of everything else, my SSD arrived today. I wasn't expecting it for another week!!!

Will put it in later and let folks know how it works out. I wasn't aware I could find info on the OCZ forum regarding mobo/BIOS compatibility so I'll check that out too.

    Domo arigato!

One thing to be careful of is information overload there. There is a lot of info mixed with old and new tech so it can get a bit confusing as to what they are referring to with tweaks and stuff. When posting questions make sure you are specific on make, model, and revision.

    Enjoy your drive.
