    Adding different brand memory

I have a new M7 64 bit machine with 8GB of memory installed, specifically Samsung 4GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 memory (times 2) and I was wanting to add identical memory sold by Micro Center for half the price. Would this be problematic? Should I pay twice the price for Samsung memory?

You don't have to buy Samsung memory only. As long as the specifications of the memory matches with the existing Samsung make, there should be no problems, but make sure it is a reputed make.

Anytime you mismatch memory, you run the risk of having issues, or maybe not even booting at all. You might add the memory and be fine, but you could also have some strange issues. There's no way to be sure until you try it, or you would just buy identical memory. MicroCenter's return policy is pretty good, though.

On a side note, are you sure you really need 16 GB of memory? You might not notice any difference, and could save yourself the money and the potential hassle.
