    Keyboard & Mouse Freezing

    Hi All,

Yesterday suddenly my keyboard and mouse stopped getting recognized by windows.

    Things already done:

    1) Restart
    2) Safe mode restart
    3) Anti-virus and Anti-Malware
    4) Reinstallation of drivers for both KB and Mouse.
    5) changing to different USB ports
    6) phone/ipod/ipad get charged on those USB thus seems ports are working fine and is not voltage issue.

Now problem is if give a "forced shutdown" even then my kb n mouse are not recognized. Like I cannot press "F8" to get safemode window, or "del" to enter BIOS. No error shown either. Only way to get them temporarily started is via plugging in PS/2 kb and mouse and giving a restart. Post restart both USB devices work for approximately 5 minutes and things got frozen again. Then unplug the USB devices, put in PS/2 devices give shut down etc.

So I felt corrupted windows and reinstalled entire windows but today morning again PC from sleep could not wake up with kb or mouse clicks.

This hasn't happened post any windows update thus restoring/reverting is not option. Loading in last recognized good config also does not solve problem.

Anyone faced something similar do let me know. on PS/2 connectors things work normal

Keyboard is Sidewinder X6, and mouse is a DeathAdder Black Edition, running Windows 7 64Bit edition. rest my config is there in signature.

    Regards

do you have any other usb components plugged in? if so unplug all bar the kb and mouse.

update the chipset drivers for your mobo also.

    update on problem

post that day i switched of USBs from switching off in "power" in control panel
plus did memtest (which came out fine)
    updated chipset drivers
    removed all other USBs too

however only difference is when my pc goes to sleep, like if i keep it on and am away i realize both mouse n keyboard dont respond. so only option for me is i have put PC to "never" sleep mode and its ok as of now

however that is like bypassing not finding the reason still

    any ideas?
