Windows 7: installed a new hdd

i toke it out of my old pc
now i install it without proper install by not screwing it in
do you think that would be alright slanted underneath the dvd drive thats how it was in my older pc

screw it properly. be safe.

aint got no screws so as soon as i do i will do just that
another thing i did is installed it with the ide cable that is ran from my dvd drive to the mobo as my Original hdd is connected with a smaller red wire connected to the mobo which i dont have another 1 of those
which im thinking is fine ? correct me if im wrong

yes it should work but to reconfirm, are all the hard drives showing up in my computer?

yes they are showing up and in disk management its showing healthy for both hdds

ok i thought this was solved
but when i went to go double click my dvd drive it doesnt open
and says please insert a disk into the bd-rom drive
ok well i know why that is my dvd drive isnt there i was seeing my virtual drive
my dvd drive opens and close by pushing the button on it button so its getting power but windows 7 aint recognizing it
could i fix this issue without reopening it

ok i uninstall the hdd because it unabled my dvd drive from being part of my pc
but it worked on my pc with that ide
is there a a way to run both from that ide cable or even swamping ide cables from my older pc to do so
im thinking i need to set the hdd to slave mode im trying to figure out where to put the jumper
dang it just screwed it into place to
by the way my mobo has only 1 ide slot
so i gotta use it for my dvd drive and hdd
ok i found out that i am able to do this but it will slow down the hdd but that would be fine intill i can get around to getting a ide to sata converter


switching the ide cable around
putting the black into the hdd instead of the dvd
it worked all 3 of my drives are there
had to leave it slanted but with 1 screw in holding it slanted below my dvd drive
and the hdd aint going slow not sure on dvd is
all working good by the way hdd is set to master
