ok... I moved the files to another location and formatted the drive and tried to encrypt with bitlocker but it still gives me an error.

I moved the contents of the drive to another drive and then formatted the problem drive. I then tried encrypting with bitlocker and got the same error message. I formatted again and ran error checking and ticked off attempt recovery of bad sectors and let that run to completion. Error checking said that there was bad sectors found and some of them were repaired. I tried encrypting with bitlocker again but still the same error. I guess problems with this drive are preventing it from being encrypted. Anyone else ever have this happen?

Looks like you might be better off to get a new hard disk instead of having the bad sectors repaired. It would be a shame to have all of your data corrupted because of a bad sector where the bitlocker encrypted it.
    A lot less aggrivation.

I agree with rich. A new hard drive will save you a lot of grief. :)
