Hi,

Not neccessarily - depends on exactly what processor it is. For example, my i7-860 installs on a motherboard with LGA1156. In other words, I cannot install it on a motherboard with LGA 1155.

A new mobo will set you back around £100 so its not a great outlay for a total new platform.

Unless you go socket lga 2011! As that's very expensive as it only came out last week lol.
