Windows 7 - System will not recognize my printer

I have two printers A wireless cannon which it does recognize and an epson RX 580 series it does no recognize. When I go to printers it shows my cannon not epson. However when I want to print a word document the printer that comes up is the cannon.( default setting) But I then hit the draw down button and it does display the RX 580 I select it and it prints.

How do I get the RX 580 to show under printers so I can make it the default printer?

Did you click add a printer? If you did and it shows up, then right click on it and choose 'set as default printer'.

I did and the selection to add is add a wireless or a local non USB printer. It notes that windows will pick up a USB printer. When I select to add a non USB ( which the RX is a USB connection , it adds a (copy 1) RX printer but it has a error code and it does nothing.

I just went to add printer selected wireless it brought up the RX 580 (Which is not a wireless printer) selected it to be default printer. Now when I print it does select the RX but still does not show up in printer and device.
