Absolutely nothing listed in the "Device and Printer" window

When I go to the device and printer window there is nothing listed. There are printers and devices on the computer because everything works with the exception of the Bluetooth. The printer prints, but I have no way of knowing what is in the queue. This may have never worked since the beginning. I don't know if this is related, but, Internet
Explorer does not work. I have downloaded it at least 4 times with the same results. It will not open.

    Any suggestions.

Try this first: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Use Option Two.

I did it twice. Both times it gave me a corrupt file error message that could not be corrected. It sent me to c:\windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log. When I went c windows log (NOT LOGS) there was no CBS.

Sounds like Windows' shadow copies are corrupt. I wouldn't trust anything on the drive.

Do a clean install of Windows.
Install Microsoft Security Essentials for real-time virus protection and keep it updated daily.
Run all the updates presented by Microsoft but in batches of no more than 20-30.
Install the rest of your software.
Create a restore point, Backup your system and data files.
    Create a Restore Disk.
    Enjoy your PC.

Never run a "Registry Cleaner" unless directed to and with specific settings.
Never run "PC Speedup" software offered on-line.
Never click on a pop-up offering to fix your computer or remove a virus on-line. NOT EVEN the "X".
Never disable your security settings because a download asks you to.
Never set global settings in Flash Player to allow use of your disk. Set specific sites if needed.

That should keep you going for a while.
