| | Making an internal optical drive an external portable one Don't want to buy an expensive external optical drive so am trying to think of how to make a SATA or IDE internal optical drive into an external one for emergencies. Anyone know if I can get adaptors for the power and data connections? Have Googled but no luck. | | SATA IDE to USB HD DVD RW Converter Power Adapter Cable on eBay! i have one of those, but i cant get it to work with an IDE drive though. |

| | I use a Vantec enclosure that was pretty cheap, and it turned a $20 Samsung SATA burner into an external one, for troubleshooting or working on computers that don't have optical drives. |
