    Annoying printing issue

    Hello,

I have a Canon laser printer with US Quarto paper (LT, 8.5" x 11").

Printing Preferences (Ctrl Pnl -> Hardware & Sound -> Devices & Printers -> Right click on printer -> Printing Prefs) are set to LT.

Printer Defaults (Ctrl Pnl -> Hardware & Sound -> Devices & Printers -> Right click on printer -> Printer Properties -> Advanced -> Printing Defaults) are set to LT, too.

Printer itself has two trays, both of which were loaded with LT paper and setup for LT via printer's menu on the printer itself.

Every time I try to print from any Windows program (e.g. MS Word or custom American accounting software), it switches paper size to A4. I can only experience that in the printer dialog that pops upon hitting Ctrl+P. Nowhere else!

Now, the accounting software is American (hence the need for US paper) and is programmed for Letter paper size and doesn't even have configurable options, unlike MS Word for example which allows to set up a document size prior to printing. This however was never an issue as the software used to print just fine using the same Canon and literally any other printer. Somehow I think it is to do with Windows or maybe printer driver?

Like I said, the accounting software used to print just fine without any hiccups on older computer which was recently upgraded. Sadly, all previously working configuration was lost.

    Things I tried:

    1. Creating custom printing profile (printer allows that) that would have LT paper as a default size but somehow Ctrl+P dialogue overrides it. All the setting (like duplex printing, trays order are right as I set them but the darn paper size always defaults to A4).

    2. Changing system locale to US.

    3. Googling the issue.

Please advise as unfortunately Printer stalls every time it is seeing 'incorrect' document size sent to it, and I have to go and manually set the paper size to LT every time I call Ctrl+P.

Sorry if I've been unclear but pls do ask your questions and I will try to give as much information as I can.

    Thanks.

Problem found and resolved. The accounting software was set up to use 'default' Windows printer (ironically A4 printer) and although there was a Windows printer dialog before each print, the software somehow adopted A4 print format. Changed to default US Letter printer, all good now.

    Thanks.
