Well, you now know that there is nothing wrong with your RAM.

    Continue to study.

Try that XMP profile and then run CPU-Z and see what the settings display--see how they are different from the pic you posted.

Try a post in the overclocker's section.

Overclocking is much easier than it used to be. Look for a recent post from Wishmaster in the overclocking and cases section. He has experience and I think he just got a new 2700K and overclocked it.

Ok, this is with the XMP profile:

    Original:

    XMP:

I got a 2gb/s improvement, and yet nothing seems to have changed.

I don't know whether or not the fact that you are actually using the XMP profile is necessarily reflected in CPU-Z.

I would assume that your RAM timings are now as shown in the last column, under "XMP-1600"--the same as 666/1333 other than the tRC.

The SPD tab is read from the ram and shows the different settings it will support. The memory tab shows what it is running at. You have to go into bios and set XMP profile for it to run at the XMP settings.

Oh I see, memory says timings are 9-9-9-24 and the frequency is 798mhz, that's better :) Makes me want to look into over clocking though, given the speeds Im getting.
