Make sure to go through the bios and turn off any and all features you aren't using...

Things like PXE boot, and any other boot features. Turn off any parallel and serial ports, and make sure your boot order and drive order are all set correctly and you don't have any extra boot processes...

Many times its the bios searching for things that aren't there that makes the post go so long...

The BIOS checks all the devices. If you have a lot of gear hanging off the ports, it is liable to be slow. For a test, disconnect everything (not the mouse and keyboard of course) and see whether that helps.

Hmm, then there is another problem. Don't know. Maybe a BIOS update helps - if a newer version is available from the manufaturer of the board.

The order that things happen is important. A more detailed description of your symptoms would help.

Is this a laptop? The Post - Boot - Startup procedure is slightly different in a laptop than a desktop.

In a modern laptop the sequences are normally:
  1. Push the power button
  2. A black screen with a small flat curser appears in the upper left corner of the screen for a very short time.
  3. A "Splash Screen" appears with the Brand Logo of the laptop and a message at the bottom instructing you how to get into the BIOS settings.
  4. The screen goes dark again for a second or two, the small flat curser appears in the upper left corner of the screen and blinks a couple of times.
  5. The "Starting Windows" message appears.
Where in this sequence does your, I'm assuming laptop, freeze and delay?
