Wheel Scrolling with Comfort Optical Mouse

I have a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 installed on my desktop under Win7 64bit. The wheel scrolls vertically 3 lines in most programs and in others it scrolls various number of lines. I have looked at Control Panel>>Mouse>>Wheel and can find only settings for speed, none for the number of lines to be scrolled. I have also changed the Scrollwheellines setting from 3 to 1 in the registry but still the wheel scrolls 3 lines or more. The system tells me there are no better mouse driver than the one I have installed.

This problem came about around a week or so ago and I am just getting around to trying to solve it.

My laptop has a Logitech wheel mouse and its driver allows me to choose the number of lines to be scrolled and the mouse responds accordingly.

What can I do to get the Comfort Mouse to scroll just on line at a time?

    Thank you very much.

    Hey Square,

Is this what you're looking for?

Do you have this version installed? http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en...e-3000#support make sure you have windows 7 selected, and choose 32bit or 64bit.

Do you have a mouse application? Here is mine:

Thank you very much, Dust Sailor

Yes, that is exactly what I was looking for BUT here is what I have for Mouse Properties.

As you can see, there is no place to change the number of lines to be scrolled.

I went to the link you provided and downloaded the driver. When I tried to install it I got a message saying something like, " This version is already installed."

    Any further thoughts?

wow. Perhaps your driver doesn't support it? That would be weird... Does a google search come up with anything?

I think you are right. I got the latest driver from MS, installed it and still no provision for single line scrolling. Like you said, weird huh! Go figure.

Someone over in the Microsoft Forums pointed me to
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/303091, and after several readings of the article I found the answer. The problem was caused by my stubbornness in insisting on having a 'number of lines to be scrolled' entry in the properties window. I finally realized it was tied to the vertical scroll rate. I set it to minimum and now get the wheel scrolling I wanted.

    Thanks again for you help.
