Understanding Model / Product Numbers

Our HP Photosmart Plus B210a All-in-One (AIO) is currently being repaired/replaced at a HP repair facility.

I noticed on the Customer Service Order Status page that our AIO, B210a product number CN217A is listed to be replaced with a B210a CN216A.

Here are the product numbers for the B210a:

My questions are, does this series of product numbers represent:
  • New production runs because of increased consumer demand.
  • New production runs because of product upgrades.
  • Or something that I may not be aware of?
