    WRITE protected Flashdrive

i cant format the flashdrive of my friend because it will prompt "disk is write-protected". There is no switch in it and i think it is a virus, because it was loaded with a bunch of shortcuts and error file names. I tried using Malwarebytes and Avast but still after reboot it is still there and write protected. I tried removing it manually using a CMD and showing hidden files but i cant even hit the delete button key on my keyboard. There is no delete option either when i right-clicked my mouse. I also tried in registry the StorageDevicePolicies but it is already set to "0".

    Anyone suggestions?

You could try using Diskpart: Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

Can you try this drive on another computer? Does it still show the read-only symptom?

If yes, it's possible the drive's simply going bad.

For some people HDDGURU: HDD LLF Low Level Format Tool seems to have worked.

For some Neo 2.9 Repair_Neo2.9.zip - File Shared from Box - Free Online File Storage seems to have worked.

Try them. The second one seems to have a high success rate.
