    Recommend me new MB

As per title, I've been using ASUS motherboards for last 11 years and I must say they are worth every penny. First one was P4P800-Deluxe which lasted from 2001 to 2007 and second one is P5E3 which I'm using since 2007 till now.

I guess its time to jump on bandwagon and upgrade my system. I'm again very much leaning towards getting ASUS again, i.e. P8P67

I was wondering if I should try some other brands like Gigabyte or MSI. I know ASrock is sister company of ASUS so its like getting same motherboard for less money. What will you my fellow PC geeks will advise to go for?

I almost forgot to mention, I'll be getting Core i7 2600k very soon so motherboard has to be 1155 socket.

All you can expect to hear is someone's personal experience with a brand, such as you just stated yourself for Asus. "I've owned leventy-leven brand X motherboards and never had a problem".

You can then go immediately to Google and find all kinds of horror stories about that particular brand.

Anecdotes are just that and mean little since the horror stories encompass all brands and you will play hell finding any authoritative evidence--just as it is for hard drives.

I've owned Intel, Dell, Gigabyte, and several Asus motherboards. The only one that ever failed was an Asus.

Signifying nothing. It's just another anecdote.

Look for the features you need and buy from a dealer you trust.

Make some wild-ass guesses and questionable assumptions about supposed build quality and quality control.

    Hope it doesn't break.

Hope even harder that you never need to deal with customer support.

I have had such a hard time with my most recent build. First of all, I strongly suggest staying away from MSI motherboards at all costs. They make good video cards, but their motherboards are CRAP. I had an Asus at one point, too. They are good all around and have great features and customer service, although I did have to RMA one. I personally like Gigabyte above all. My latest build with the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 went absolutely flawlessly. Everything booted up without a hitch immediately. The board even looks great, if you're into aesthetics. I mean, what looks cooler than a completely black and silver board that comes with a solid black SLI bridge? The I/O shield is even black. Makes all fan and other LED's look even better. Anyway, there's my two cents. Gigabyte FTW

im very much an ASUS person, id recommend the P8Z68 range of boards. they use the latest chipsets on the 1155 platform and offer fast cache and allow the integrated gpu in the cpu to do the minor tasks and your main gpu for everythign else

If you've had good luck with Asus and our comfortable with them, there's no real reason to switch, unless you find a great deal on another brand. I don't have much experience with Asus, but they are a quality brand. I use Intel boards for general systems, like for family and friends, and I use Gigabyte boards for gaming/performance systems.

As long as you stick with a quality brand, and it meets your needs/price, you'll be fine.
