Windows no longer detects my USB Game Pads

All of a freakin' sudden Win7 doesn't detect my gamepads.

It was working JUST FINE until my previous problem occured (see previous problem here: My Hard Drive no longer shows up in My Computer)

    Yes, I've done windows updates.
Yes, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers.
Yes, my power option is on High Performance.
Yes, I changed the power plan settings to Disable Selective Suspend.
Yes, I've checked device manager and there are no problems detected.

If I were to reboot my computer and plug in my controller the gamepad usually works. Win7 detects it, makes that stupid USB sound, and all is dandy. But the minute I launch a game and start trying to map my controls windows does that gay noise where it says the USB is disconnected. Then it goes back and forth with the connect/disconnect noises. I can still see the power light on my game pad at this point. So I quit my game and look in Devices and Printers and it no longer displays my game pad. Then the power light on my game pad dissapears.

    Seriously... what the F***?

Sounds like you are losing connectivity/power on the USB port(s). Does the gamepad have an independent power supply or batteries or is it only powered by the USB port?

The first thing to try is this:
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off
    (turn it OFF, of course)

Let us know if that changes anything. Hopefully you are not dealing with a motherboard defect.

I already said I turned off selective suspend.
And the game pad is only powered by USB.

Go to Device Manager > Go to Universal Serial Bus Controllers & USB Root Hub Listings. > Uncheck all boxes on all root hubs about saving power.
Reboot the computer and see if that makes any difference.

Take a close look at the motherboard to see if you can see any bulging or leaking capacitors.
Check the USB port connections for any physical abnormality.

    No bulging or leaking.
    No physical abnormalities.
And I already set the hubs not to be able to save power.

Have you tried the gamepad on another computer to eliminate the possibility that it is defective?

    Yes.

I have two game pads. Same issue with each of them. My computer gave me issues with my USB mouse. I have about 12 USB ports. No matter which one I swap them into they don't like working.

They both work fine on my Windows XP computer.

I have to agree that it sounds like a hardware issue. It definitely sounds like they are losing power or are damaged. Are all of you USB ports on the same hub (next to each other). Can you please fill out your System Specs a little more to include your motherboard and power supply?

Well, with a 950W power supply I do not think that is the issue. You said you have 12 USB ports, but the details page on newegg list 8 (unless I overlooked something). Where did the other 4 come from?

I can't help but sespect a faulty motherboard based on the reviews. A forth of them report various ports on the board not working correctly or it being DOA.

I'm assuming you built the computer yourself? How long ago? Have you had any other problems with the computer at all?
