What do you accomplish by hot plugging. Hate to put my hand into a box under power when I can avoid it.
It keeps bios from locking the controller. With the controller locked, it will not accept a secure erase command. As I understnd it, when the computer boots the bios locks the controller. Hot plugging keeps it from doing that. It is the same way for the intel toolbox, it tells you to hot plug it.

Your biggest risk will be a running fan hitting your knuckles and startling you.

The wife loves to help. She is a computer guru herself - but on other subjects than myself. We complement each other.

    No word from Sony yet.
