Intel Gen1 SSD cleanup

I plan to reinstall Windows 7 on an Intel 1st generation SSD. Unfortunately the Intel tools do not work for the Gen1 SSDs. Anybody know how I can give that a goo cleaning.

Parted Magic from CD if it isn't on the Sony laptop.

Partition Wizard running from one HD with OS will erase other HD's including SSD. Select Wipe Disk or Wipe Partition.

Windows install disk or Windows recovery disk System Repair Disc - Create run Command Prompt from disk.

Thanks, I will try that. And no, it is not the Sony. It is my HP desktop which I will give to friends.

Secure erase with bootable Parted magic. Instructions from OCZ, but it works well on Intel too. It issues a secure erase comand to the controller.

And it only takes a couple of seconds to do it.

I've used it several times and it works very well. You may have to hot plug the drive though. I usually unplug the power cable until Parted magic completely loads, then plug it back in and go to hard drive erase. It has always worked for me.

What do you accomplish by hot plugging. Hate to put my hand into a box under power when I can avoid it.
