Marvell controllers are not up to it. Intel's are all the go. Just think of it as having a good ssd when you next update your board.

Just make sure that you have the latest firmware on the ssd. 1.3.3 is fairly stable for now.

    What he said.

I've messed around with the Marvell controllers on two different motherboards and they can't hold a candle to the Intel controller. They might do for an optical drive, but you'll see your numbers improve by moving your HD/SSD to the Intel one. :)

    SSD speed adequate ?

** edit** grr typed an essay and phone deleted mostly all of it..

What I meant to say was, that I thought ASUS had adopted the intel controlers before the P7 era of boards.

Its a shame that older boards are suffering.. Well cauing the owner to suffer.

I have a force 3 120gb with my P8Z68 board and I'm very impressed with its performance, yet to benchmark it though lol

Thanks for the info guys, looks like im gonna have to suffer for now lol.

I tried the SSD on the Marvel conroller using
    AHCI
    RAID
IDE settings in BIOS and get more or less the same results as I do on the Intel Controller, using the same configurations and thats with the updated Corsair firmware 1.3.3.

The new SS below are (in order top to botttom)

    1. My Samsung Spinpoint F3 in RAID 0 (2x1TB) on the Intel Controller

    2. My SSD on the Intel Controller

    3. My SSD on the Marvel (AHCI)
