    RAM Speed Queries

Hi i got 8gb of ram off my brother for christmas along with that i had a new motherboard. now everything seems to run ok but i can't help but get the feeling that my ram is not running at it's correct speed.

The mother board is a gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H

    And the ram is Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 XMS3 i5.. | Ebuyer.com

But everywhere it says all over my pc it's running at 666 mhz for example : RAM Speed Queries-untitled.jpg

Running right where it is supposed to when you consider the default memory speed supported by the memory controller built into the CPU is 1333 MHZ. Also that 666/667 MHz you're seeing needs to be doubled; don't forget DDR stands for double data rate.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING AMD AM3 CPU's and RAM SPEEDS

Now with that said, to get the memory to run at 1600 Mhz (800) you will have to manually set it to that speed in that speed in the bios.
