Changing the delay between clicking on and opening a folder

Hi guys, I've recently enabled the 'click to open, point to select' option in my mouse settings. You know, where you hover over something and it automatically selects it for you. What I want to try to do is, change the delay between when I click on it, and when it opens. You see, when I used to click on something with it on, it was possible for me to fly through folders really quickly, just having to click once! Now when I do it, there is a pause before it opens. This means I can't go through folders quickly, because without the option on, I have to double click every time I want to open a folder and that irritates me . Any help's appreciated, whether it's a registry tweak or whatever it may be :).

Depending on the mouseware concerned there will, no doubt, be a registry hack.

If things respect the usual format there will be a standard 0.4 seconds delay, the danger is that trimming it too low could mean flying over a folder may mean it annoyingly opens!

I wouldn't be happy doing too much on a wireless mouse either, as they can develop a little lag anyway.

@Qdos Well... Is it possible to change it? I know the standard is 0.4 seconds, but is it possible to trim it to, say, 0.2?

There's a discussion along very similar lines on these forums, which can be found on the link below...

@Qdos Well, I followed your link and made the hover time shorter, but I'll try to explain a little better... When you go into, say, My Computer, and then open Program files, there is a delay before I see its contents. That should be a bit clearer. Is the delay because it has to load all the folders and files? That is what I'm trying to figure out, if you could change the delay of when you see a folder's contents.

I think I've got what I was asking about... Since I changed the hover delay, I can access a folder faster. I don't know if it's that or the computer though. Qdos, I think you helped me solve my problem ! Thanks!

That is not a mouse problem but a problem of the access time to your disk. That's why many people around here have SSDs. Then you do not have that problem.

@whs Yeah, that probably is. The speed is fine though.
