Huwaei CDMA/EVDO USB Modem not working

For 2 whole years, my CDMA/EVDO modem, my only way to access the World Wide Web, was working perfectly. Then, last week, my laptop stopped noticing it. I put it in the computer again and again to no avail. I then tried restarting my computer several times, but nothing was solved. And finaly, I uninstalled the software from my computer and reinstalled it but even that did not work (even in Safe Mode). According to my computer, the modem is missing the "Huawei Mobile Device Driver" and cannot install the driver. I thought that was preposterous. So I decided to borrow a spare laptop from a friend of mine and install the modem and it worked. The computer I borrowed noticed the driver even after unistalling and reinstalling the modem 5 times! As of now, the my friend's laptop is the only way I can access the Internet until the modem works on my own computer again. Please help!
