Thanks again everyone. I am now trying to properly move all my Data in the User files; My Pics, My Music, My Docs, etc. over to my D drive by following the tutorial with no luck. I will keep on reading and hopefully square away this latop yet.

Personally i like to move just what i want, here's how i do it. Go to C:/ users/ your name open to drop down highlite My Music right click do copy, go to your E:/ highlite it and do paste, sit back and let it do it's thing, when done go in and double click a song WMP should open and play that song, once you know it will play the music from E: you can delete the music on C: just the music NOT the My Music folder. Do the same thing with My Pictures, you can put them on E: or F: where ever you want them.

Make empty folders with any name (they will be renamed anyhow) on your D drive and move to there. Else it will move to the root of D which does not always work as desired.

Are you trying to understand how to just COPY (and then delete after you know it's been copied, since that's generally the preferred method vs. the alternative direct MOVE) from one place to another?

There are many ways to accomplish this, but certainly one other approach is to use the very easy-to-understand "dual-pane" FROM/TO Explorer-alternative and highly regarded program named Free Commander.

You just navigate either pane to be the FROM folder, and the navigation for other pane therefore is the TO folder. Then you select the folders/files in the FROM folder you want to either COPY or MOVE, and use (a) right-click the selection in the FROM pane and pick from the context menu the action you want, or (b) use keyboard shortcut F5 for COPY or F6 for MOVE.

As has already been stated, you name the TO "parent" folder whatever you want. You can always add it to "Music Library" or whatever, with whatever meaningful and intuitive name you have opted for. In my case I've named my "music folder" on D to be \MP3 (as that is what is mostly contains, although it's also got FLAC files in it) since that name is meaningful to me.

Free Commander is a fantastic alternative (or supplement) to Windows Explorer.
