    CDs not recognised

My DVD drive , since upgrading to Windows 7 I am sure, will not acknowledge that there is a CD in it. DVDs are fine. It is just CDs that arent working. I checked for a driver update and there wasnt one. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I know this is odd, but try to change your IDE slot
I've had the same issue and this helped me...
And of course, do you have ATA or SATA DVD-ROM?

    Yup...
If you are using one ROM as a IDE Master, just change bay on the cable.

In that case I will give it a go. I shouldn't need to worry about frying everything due to static from my hands, should I?

It's better to turn your computer off and unplug it...
    Just in case...
