SD HC cards not recognized on Sony Vaio VGN-FZ21E

    Hi,

I have just reinstalled windows 7 32bit on my Sony Vaio VGN-FZ21E. Since the install my 2 x SD HC cards are not recognized. I cannot find them in device manager. Both worked fine on the same laptop when I had Linux Mint installed and they also worked on the same laptop in my previous installation of W7 last year. They both currently work fine on another laptop running W7.

I cannot see them in device manager.

I can download new and original Vista drivers on the below Sony site (this worked when I had an issue with my video card, but I'm not sure if there are any there for the SD card reader.

    VAIO : Sony Europe

    Does anyone have any ideas?

(is it the reader or the cards?) If the cards then..........

See how you go formatting them with SD Formatter.

    Download link on the left.

I doubt if it's the cards if they work perfectly on another laptop and on this laptop when Linux Mint was installed instead of Windows.

OK I have found memory card reader writer drivers but I have no idea where to install them. They are .dll .cat .inf and .sis

If you are sure they are the correct drivers right click the inf file. You should see 'install'.

Sometimes win7 will not let you install that way Go to device manager right click on the offending device and select update driver, point to where you have downloaded and extracted the driver files to and windows will do the rest :)
