Windows 7: PnP error code 10, driver fails

Hi there,


recently i bought a netgeat wireless usb adapater, and when trying to install the drivers from disk, the program seemed to go wrong, multiple windows opened and it seemed to do nothing. I then get a message saying driver installation failed. I tried to uninstall the stuff from the disk and get windows to try find the drivers and do is this way via device and printers panel and manaually telling it to update drivers. No luck, gives me the fail message again and it says 'Error code 10' - This device cannot start. So i take back the device thinking it's a load of rubbish and buy a more expencive belkin play N600 wireless usb adapter.


To my dismay this does the same thing, the software from the disk seems dodgy as... like clicking install and i get 2 windows popup one while its installing asking to click next to install again.. very confusing and random. So i try doing the same thing, ditch the disk and try via windows update and device and printers manager... still same error. I've made sure windows is up to date, im losing the will to live.. i dont know enough about this sort of problem to know where to start. I'm hoping my hero is around here somewhere..


I'm running Windows 7 64bit - Fresh install - fully updated.




If anyone can help i will be more than grateful.
