What RAM for my nForce 790i Ultra SLI I currenlty have DDR3, 4x1Gb at 533 MHz and I am using approximatley 75% of my RAM. I am thinking I will see a significant performance improvement if I increase the RAM, but don't know what to buy.
Thanks!

I went to Crucial, but it doesn't list nVidea as a manufacturer option. Who do I pick? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware/Area-51 R6 OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core2 Extreme CPU X9770 @3.20 GHz Motherboard nForce 790i Ultra SLI Memory 4 GB DDR3 Dual Channel 533.33 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ Sound Card Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM) Monitor(s) Displays Dell LCD Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 x 59 hertz Keyboard Microsoft 3000 Mouse Microsoft 5000 Cooling Liquid and air Internet Speed 11.35 Mbps download, 1.45 Mbps upload per Speedtest.com |

NVidia is your graphics card.
Your computer is Alienware.
You can always use their "System Scanner" to autodetect your memory. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell and Custom OS Systems 1 and 2: Windows 7 Enterprise x64, Win 8 Developer CPU System 1: i7 2600@3.4GHz, System 2: AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6G Motherboard System 1:Dell 06NWYK System 2: ASUS M5A97 AM3+ Memory System 1: 8GB System 2: 8GB Graphics Card System 1: ATI FirePro V4800 System 2: Radeon HD 6850 Sound Card System 1: onboard System 2: onboard Monitor(s) Displays System1: Viewsonic HDMI 24" Screen Resolution System 1: 1920x1080 System 2: 1920x1080 Case System 1: Dell System 2: Cooler Master Hard Drives System 1: Mirrored .5B drives System 2: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Internet Speed 10 MBPS |

Lemure, really appreciate the help. I looked on the mother board and it really is a nVidia mobo ( NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI MCP)
Crucial has a system scanner? I will try that.
My system is so screwed up that I have trouble keeping what is in it straight. I am one of the many screwed Alienware customers. Sent it back 7 times in 3 years. Eventually they replaced everything but the HD and the case. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware/Area-51 R6 OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core2 Extreme CPU X9770 @3.20 GHz Motherboard nForce 790i Ultra SLI Memory 4 GB DDR3 Dual Channel 533.33 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ Sound Card Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM) Monitor(s) Displays Dell LCD Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 x 59 hertz Keyboard Microsoft 3000 Mouse Microsoft 5000 Cooling Liquid and air Internet Speed 11.35 Mbps download, 1.45 Mbps upload per Speedtest.com |

OK, ran their tool and it gave me an error (told me what I had though - 4x1GB - and that I can go up to 20GB).
I am thinking of buying 2x4GB, maybe 1600MHz since it is a huge boost and relatively inexpensive. I think it will run (after reading the page I sent the link on) but appreciate any feedback. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware/Area-51 R6 OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core2 Extreme CPU X9770 @3.20 GHz Motherboard nForce 790i Ultra SLI Memory 4 GB DDR3 Dual Channel 533.33 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ Sound Card Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM) Monitor(s) Displays Dell LCD Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 x 59 hertz Keyboard Microsoft 3000 Mouse Microsoft 5000 Cooling Liquid and air Internet Speed 11.35 Mbps download, 1.45 Mbps upload per Speedtest.com |
