Network Printer Problems__HP6500 OfficeJet A-I-1 E709n

Aloha,
I'm a newbie to this forum and I appreciate the level of expertise and experience that I observed on many threads thus far.
I have a home network using a Linksys E3200 "N" router. All of my networked client computers use either Windows 7 x64 or Android. I have 2 static IP client computers (Desktops), 2 DHCP client computers (Laptops) and an Android tablet. The HP6500 is installed as a standalone network printer with a static IP. While the 2 desktop PC's are connected via ethernet to the router, the Printer is using the wireless connection as default. This has been working fairly well with some degree of instability, losing printer capability on 1 of the laptops and 1 of the desktops, the 1 I'm currently typing on. This client has also had no connectivity with the HP solution center.
I began the exercise of trying to un-install all HP software on this computer, to no avail, 4 days ago. The attempts have been via the Device Manager, Printers and Devices and more recently via a downloaded utility from the HP website, ID'ed as the HP Printer Un-Install Utility. As we speak, I've yet again, tried using the "Printers & Devices" un-install button.
I've also tried to re-install the printer over the un-successful uninstall hoping that the new install would scrub the old installation, however much to my surprise I get a new install while retaining the old install, neither of which work. In all cases of re-install, the choice is install a wireless network printer. To make things more interesting, the default status of neither machine can be changed. The re-install methods I've used have been thru "Devices and Printers" Add a Printer button, the OEM CD and a downloaded HP utility called Printer Install wizard.
I've also downloaded, installed and attempted the use of HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility, HP Hdwe Diagnostic Utility, HP Printer Diagnostic Utility and the HP "full" software download presumably where the most recent driver corrections reside, with use of the above noted Printer Install Wizard.
The home network diagnostic utility loaded and identified my printer and router by their correct static IP's and MAC's, but also replied no wireless networks were detected. The HDWE diagnostic utility gave an error message "No HP Printer recognized" and the other utilities failed to install and load a setup wizard.
The properties of the Un-installed printer (Lets call this one A)clearly identifies the correct static IP address, and Device Manager indicates "device is working properly". The newly-installed printer (lets call this one B, set automatically as default when installed) can not have the default status changed and the status of printer A can't be made default. Printer B properties do not list the static IP address. Using Device Manager, the device driver is different in both printers.
Many times the "Devices and Printers" screen fails to populate, however the printer shows up in both Device Manager and Network Map.
At this point its the end of day 5 of this saga, my current un-install attempt has not worked, it has been more than 60 minutes since I hit the button and I'm out of ideas. I really hope someone can offer some new help, particularly in using an alternative to un-install that has not been stated here.
I look forward to all replies and will start afresh tomorrow (wed).

Not sure if I completely follow what's going on. The printer works on all computers except 2?

  • On the problem computers, try changing the default printer to anything other than the HP. Then see if you can uninstall all the HP references again. Make sure you are logged in as an Administrator.
  • Can other PCs print to the HP? If so, ping the IP address of the printer from the problem computer and make sure there's no packet loss.
  • Put the printer's IP address in a web browser on the problem computer. Can you access the printer's web page? Is there a tab on the webpage for installing the printer? Some of the HPs allow you to download the printer driver & install directly from the web utility page.
  • You could try using a program like Revo Uninstaller to remove the old HP software if all else fails.

I had to connect my laptop directly to the printer with Ethernet cable to get it to work correctly, it installed a printer with a number...now i can connect wirelessly.

Thx for your replies.
I really messed this action up...I have failed for all the un-install attempts to remember to turn the printer off, however trying to uninstall, it hung up 2ce at 82%. #rd un-install was completed, and after clearing out all files associated with HP I was able to re-install using the "full" download I had previously saved.
so my issues are all handled and I now have a functioning standalone wireless network printer.
Again, many thx for all replies, This issue is SOLVED
