Keystrokes not right on new netbook

here's a curly one - setting up an Acer netbook for a friend and come put in her email the @ comes out as " and vice versa.

Thiscan only be a software or hardware problem if the latter then I've spent the best part of four hours of setting up and Windows updates.

Is this reversible by any chance?

Your regional settings would seem to imply you have the keyboard layout perhaps set as US English and not for your own locale...

Thanks fellas the original setup was done by her boyfriend and I guess thats why the weather gadget looked odd to me - brilliant are you both - may the force be with you now and forever (yep I am about as big as Yoda lol!!)

Oh it was set to UK time / date and some place in the Pacific ocean for region and language. She did say he was really much of a computer person. Plus I have learnt something tonight as I started thinking the machine was misfiring!
