Boot from bootable DVD, did that work in the past and not anymore? Was it visible in BIOS in the past?

Does bios see the harddrive, and can you boot from harddrive?

So the only problem is: bios doesn't detect dvd reader/writer. So win7 doesn't detect it as well.

Does the dvd tray open? If you insert a dvd ... does it spin?
Has nothing to do with updates! Or did you a dvddrive firmware update?

winxp doesn't see dvddrive ass weel I assume?

Why do you want to format win7drive? Are winxp and win7 installed on same physical disk?
