    ide ahci ?


    HI all I NEED TO ASK A ? WHEN I FIRST BUILT MY COMP I PUT MY HDD IN THE SATA 3 6GIG PORT ITS A WD HDD 1 TB 64 MEG CASH SATA 3 6 GIG. BUT IN THE BIOS I LEFT IT IN IDE MODE. so my ? is can i chang it to AHCI IN THE BIOS ? WELL THERE BE A DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE? AND IS IT THAT SIMPLE TO ? THANKS I AM LEARNING ALL THIS STUFF THE BEST I CAN AND THIS FORUM IS THE BEST I HAVE SEEN

    Not really no. But do this, turn off CAPS LOCK.

    sorry about caps our work comps have to have caps on at all times for work stuff after 2 yrs of this i just over look caps sorry

    You can enable AHCI in the registry, then switch from IDE to AHCI in the Bios.
    Performance varies, but don't expect a huge performance bump as only SSD's really benefit from SATA III.
    AHCI : Enable in Windows 7 / Vista
